Caring With Compassion: Celebrating Nursing Week & Personal/Home Support Worker Day at CHATS
At CHATS – Community & Home Assistance to Seniors, our mission to support older adults in aging with dignity at home would not be possible without the incredible dedication of our frontline care team. This May, we proudly recognize two important occasions: National Nursing Week (May 12–18) and Personal Support and Home Support Worker Day (May 19). Honouring Our Nurses
During National Nursing Week, we take time to celebrate the compassion, skill, and strength of our nurses. Whether they are coordinating complex care plans, supporting families through challenging transitions, or providing hands-on care to clients in their homes, their impact is immeasurable.
As CHATS CEO Christina Bisanz shared in her message to staff:
“Their dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the persons we serve makes a profound difference in the lives of countless individuals… We are honored to have such exceptional professionals as part of our team.”
Especially in times of challenge, our nurses and client care supervisors have shown unwavering resilience and compassion, going above and beyond to safeguard the well-being of clients and caregivers alike.

Recognizing Our PSWs and Home Support Workers
On May 19, we also shine a light on the essential contributions of Personal Support Workers (PSWs) and Home Support Workers, who provide vital daily care to seniors across York Region and South Simcoe. These dedicated professionals are the cornerstone of CHATS’ in-home services — helping with everything from bathing and mobility to meals and companionship.
Their work not only supports clients, but also offers relief to caregivers and families, enabling older adults to remain at home safely and comfortably. We are deeply grateful for their compassion, consistency, and the respect they show each person they serve.

Thank You for Your Caring
To all our nurses, PSWs, and home support workers: your kindness, commitment, and courage do not go unnoticed. You are the heart of CHATS, and the foundation of our ability to deliver person-centered, community-based care.
We encourage our community to take a moment this month to thank a nurse or care worker in your life, your appreciation goes a long way.
Happy Nursing Week and PSW/Home Support Worker Day!
