CHATS-Community & Home Assistance to Seniors is proud to introduce CIBPA Place, York Region’s first not-for-profit Overnight Respite Care Centre for short-term stays.

Set to open January 2026, this unique initiative provides a safe, welcoming environment for adults living with dementia while offering much-needed relief for caregivers.

A Home Away from Home

Located in Bassingthwaite House, a fully renovated heritage home dating back to 1860, CIBPA Place offers short-term overnight respite stays ranging from 2 to 14 nights. This warm and home-like setting is designed to support individuals with dementia in a secure and engaging atmosphere.

CIBPA Place is located at: 10090 Bathurst Street, Vaughan, Ontario, and will support up to 6 guests per stay.

Why Overnight Respite Matters

Many seniors prefer to remain at home for as long as possible, and with the right support, they can. However, caregivers often face burnout, and without relief, families may turn to long-term care sooner than necessary.

A 2019 study found that 1 in 9 newly admitted long-term care residents had similar health profiles to those living at home with support. Our centre helps bridge that gap by offering short-term, high-quality care that can delay or prevent institutionalization.

CIBPA Place gives caregivers a break and seniors a dignified, enjoyable place to stay.
