As COVID-19 continues to affect our community, CHATS needs your support to make sure our Frontline Heroes are receiving the resources and support they need to continue to provide essential support to older adults and their caregivers throughout York Region and South Simcoe.

As the COVID number continue to rise, this 4th wave of omicron has hit essential workers hard. The weight of anxiety and burnout are at unprecedented levels.

Worry for their health and the health of their families; staff shortages due to illness; and increased client needs, with seemingly no end in sight, are cumulating to create this environment that needs our support.

When COVID first struck in the spring of 2020, there was a tremendous amount of community support; bells were ringing, signs hanging in windows, horns honking, donations flooding in for support.  Two years on people’s resources, desire, outlook, and financial ability to give back is starting to wan.

We are all feeling COVID fatigue. It’s hard to stay positive when we are all struggling to manage our “new normal”; our day to day lives, virtual meetings, home schooling, postponed events, a world of uncertainty. CHATS’ staff members continue to work tirelessly to deploy even more essential services at this time including, Meals on Wheels, medication & prescriptions drop-offs, grocery shopping, respite care, safety checks and transportation; supports which are vital in keeping the senior population healthy and out of hospitals.

Now is the time to collectively take a deep breath and pull on all the strength and positivity we can to keep our front-line heroes spirits and moral lifted. They need us, so they can be there for our most vulnerable.

All donations to the Frontline Workers Relief Fund will be funned directly to CHATS’ frontline, client-facing staff. This fund is to enhance support efforts in:

  • Relief from burnout. Initiatives to boost moral like providing meals and gift cards and providing mental health supports.
  • Financial Assistance. Aid to staff facing financial hardships due to COVID related illnesses.
  • Delivery of essential items to clients and caregivers across York Region

Thank you for your support.
