Celebrating Community, Connection & Care: CHATS Annual Meeting & Home at Heart Awards 2025

On June 25, 2025, CHATS – Community & Home Assistance to Seniors welcomed community members, staff, volunteers, and partners to a packed room at Stonehaven in Aurora for our Annual Meeting and second annual Home at Heart Awards. The evening brought together the very people who make our mission possible: helping older adults and caregivers live well at home and in their communities.
Guests were treated to a warm, welcoming atmosphere, a variety of gourmet small plates, and inspiring conversations. We were honoured to feature Laura Tamblyn Watts, CEO of CanAge, as our keynote speaker. A national expert on aging and elder rights, Laura’s message was both heartfelt and thought-provoking—reminding us of the urgent need for innovation, compassion, and equity in elder care across Canada.

This year’s Annual Meeting reflected on a remarkable period of growth and impact for CHATS. From launching new wellness programs to enhancing our Meals on Wheels and transportation services, every initiative reflects our commitment to person-centered care. A major highlight was sharing the progress on CIBPA Place—York Region’s first not-for-profit overnight dementia respite care home, set to open in fall 2025. This purpose-built space will provide much-needed support to caregivers and offer seniors a safe, comfortable environment for short-term care.
The night also celebrated the individuals and organizations who make our work possible through the Home at Heart Awards. These honours recognize outstanding contributions to senior care, volunteerism, partnership, and leadership. This year’s recipients represent a wide spectrum of community spirit, innovation, and heart:
